Pat Forde, a writer for ESPN, wrote a great article about Bruce Pearl today that is worth a read. A coach that decided to keep his morals in tack and ended up paying for it. Rather then lowering his head, Pearl took advantage of his Division II opportunity and now has taken Tennessee to new heights, while turning into a big time Division I basketball coach.

I am stealing the saying from the PGA golf commercial and using it to describe the Tennessee Volunteers MENS Basketball team. Everyone knows about the Lady Volunteers, but following the addition of Bruce Pearl the men’s squad has reached new heights. The Tennessean said this, “Four years ago the three Tennessee freshmen were too average to notice. Chris Lofton sat meekly in class. JaJuan Smith played the role of an anonymous walk-on. Jordan Howell had the build of a team manager, not team leader. ”Four years ago, it wasn’t popular to be on the Tennessee basketball team,” Howell said. “People kind of laughed at us on campus.” Things have changed a little bit.“
